The Continual Fight To Remove Barriers From Your Life

The Continual Fight To Remove Barriers From Your Life - - -

Barriers are those things that block us from moving forward. In life, barriers come in all different sizes, shapes, and colors. They may be television, shopping, massive amounts of debt, excessive time on social media, and even people.

In my life, I have had my share of barriers. Some of them were my own mental setbacks, from fear of people and their opinions of my work, to lack of focus, which caused laziness.  I also wasted time on social media, and in an unhealthy relationship.

After assessing my life and coming to the realization that these were barriers, I had to ask myself some questions….

“Are you going to allow these things to stop you?

“Are you going to take a stand and remove them from your life?”

The answer was Yes. Yet, how was I going to do it?

Removing barriers is not an easy task. Sometimes they are with us for such a long time that they become a part of our life. We start to see them as normal and we accept them.  For me, I thought that spending time on social media and checking email or text messages, and watching excessive amounts of televisions was fine. I thought a relationship that was characterized by constant breakups and mental abuse was normal. Yet, they were barriers that were blocking me from my purpose.

So, after acknowledging my barriers, I made a decision. I made a choice to pursue my passion, by making a daily plan, and carrying the plan out. This was wonderful and easy in the beginning, however what I learned was that barriers are relentless.  They don’t go away that easily.

I can’t tell you how many times, my barriers tried to rear their ugly head. The doubt about my work and the opinions of people continued to bother me. The need to check my email or social media accounts, and search the internet attempted to distract me.  Also, the unhealthy relationship tried to rear its ugly head after I told him it was over.

Yet, after a while I realized that removing barriers is a constant fight. It is not something that we do once and they are cast in the sea forever. We must knock them out repeatedly, until they become less and less of a distraction.

So whatever barriers are distracting you from fulfilling your purpose, put up a continual fight to remove them from your life. - -
